CC Background Systematic 3 Philip Rodrigues Oxford Group Meeting 30/10/07

Introduction Shift in shower scale in Lauren’s horn on/horn off plots –MC was at higher E Could this be the reason for energy dependence in PID background method?

Method 1 As before: Plot some PID output for Near Det data and MC –Use NC selected events Scale true NC and true CC contributions to minimize c 2 Plot CC scale as a function of energy

Method 2 Scale MC shower energy: E → E’ = sE –Just amounts to a different binning in data and MC

Results

NC Scales

Conclusions CC scale gets slightly flatter as a function of energy with shower energy scale change of ~2% NC scale not affected much
