Winter tires are particularly effective throughout the fall and winter seasons under difficult environmental conditions (snow, ice, slush) and at low temperatures, below +7ºC (19.4ºF). During the winter season, tires play a crucial role in the vehicles overall safety and performance. Standard (non-winter) compound characteristics show decreased elasticity resulting in a reduced contact area and therefore a reduction in overall grip when temperatures drop.
