Article Submission Process Undergraduate students from all universities are invited to submit their articles in French or in English. Material to be submitted: A letter to the Editor in chief. The manuscript.

JIRIRI’S Mission 1- To allow undergraduate students to experience the complete process of scientific publishing--from the elaboration of original ideas, through the peer review process, and finally to publication. 2- To promote the creation and expression of new theoretical and empirical ideas about identity and social interactions, ideas that could eventually be the foundation of larger scale works.

Article Submission Process The letter addressed to the Chief Editor must include: 1.The type of article that is submitted (theoretical or empirical) 2.The author’s name and contact information ( address, mailing address with postal code and phone number) 3.The author submitting an article will have to provide proof that they are an undergraduate student (students who have completed their bachelors' degree, six months or more prior to submission, are not allowed to participate as an author in the JIRIRI). 4.The second author may be a graduate student or a professor, but may not be first author of the manuscript.

5.A description of the manuscript: Title Length (number of pages) Number of tables and figures 6. A declaration attesting the manuscript was never submitted for publication nor published elsewhere. 7. If the submitted article is empirical, the letter must indicate that the project supervisor is aware of your submission to the JIRIRI and authorizes the use of the data. Article submission process

Article Submission Process The manuscript The first page must include: 1.The article’s title 2.A shorter version of the title (in case the title has more than 45 characters) 3.Warning: to facilitate an anonymous process of evaluation of the articles, DO NOT mention the author’s name and university affiliation on this page, only mention it in the letter addressed to the chief editor. The second page must include: 1.A summary of the article in about 150 words 2.5 keywords representing the subjects treated in the article General presentation of the manuscript: 1.Text must not be longer than 10,000 words. 2.American Psychological Association’s guidelines must be respected (see next slide)

Article Submission Process How to follow the APA guidelines in the manuscript: Document preparation: 1.See the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association References in the text: You must cite the works, ideas or results in quotation marks. Citations references must be in alphabetic order according to the last name of the first author, as well as from the oldest to the most recent. 1.Example:(Crosby, 1976; Walker & Pettigrew, 1984; Walker, 1999). 2.Ex: one or two authors: “According to Kalin and Berry (1995), identification to the cultural group of origin and (…) are two independent dimensions which can, however, exist simultaneously.” 3.Ex: from three to five authors: First time quote all of the authors’ names (ex. Branscombe, Schmitt, & Harvey, 1999). Second time you would quote the same authors, mention the first one and add the note “et al.” (ex. Branscombe et al., 1999)

Where to Submit? address: Postal address: Journal sur l’identité, les relations interpersonnelles et les relations intergroupes (JIRIRI) a/s Roxane de la Sablonnière, Ph.D. Rédactrice adjointe séniore Université de Montréal Département de psychologie C.P Succursale Centre-Ville Montréal (Québec) Canada, H3C 3J7

Article Submission Process Post submission process: 1.You will receive a confirmation receipt 2.A manuscript number, assigned by the editor, will be given to you. 3.In further communications with the chief editor, specify: The manuscript number (in the subject) The complete title of your manuscript Evaluation process: 1.A copy of the manuscript is transferred to 2 or 3 undergraduate students 2.One graduate student 3.The Senior Editor in Chief

Article Submission Process Possible editor’s answers: 1.Acceptance as is (very exceptional) 2.Acceptance conditional to corrections Minor corrections requested; If the author disagrees with one or many requested corrections, arguments should be provided as to why these corrections should not be made. 3.Refusal with re-submission request Most frequent answer in the publishing process. An article receiving this verdict sheds light on an interesting subject and has potential. The requests for corrections are often more substantial. (The article may not be published even if corrections were made to the manuscript.) 4.Refusal Submit the manuscript elsewhere.
