Stem Changing Verbs You learned to call them BOOT verbs! Quiero Queremos Quieres Queréis Quiere Quieren …Because the forms that have a change are in the shape of a boot.

We have these “BOOT” verbs in the present tense only. We wear boots in the present, the here and now!

But in the past they didn’t wear boots. They went barefoot!

In the past preterite tense, “boot” verbs do not exist. PENSAR = to plan PENSAR = to plan Pienso I plan Pensamos We plan Piensas You plan Pensáis You all plan Piensa He/she plans You (formal) plan Piensan They plan Pensé I planned Pensamos We planned Pensaste You planned Pensasteis You all planned Pensó He/she planned You (formal) planned Pensaron They planned
