The Shediac Public Library would like to share with you: Tips to help you take good care of books! By reading and following these simple tips, you will be helping your library keep its books in tip-top condition.

Tip #1: Keeping books clean No Food Clean Hands Book Respect

Please remember to have clean (and dry) hands when you read and handle your books. Clean hands keep books clean! Unlike you, books shouldn’t take baths, so it’s important to make sure they don’t get dirty.

Colour Write Scribble Draw Cut OR glue the pages of a library book Treat them like friends and they will be there for you whenever you need them… Please NEVER … so, please respect our books.

Tip #2: Keeping Books Safe Careful of Pets Bookmarks and Dog-eared Pages Using Book Bags

Please keep your library books safe from pets They don’t understand that books are not toys to play with. AHHHH!!!

Please always use bookmarks to find where you are in a book. Books don’t like having dog-eared pages... they risk getting torn. Dog-eared pages Bookmark Never fold down the corners of a book’s pages… these are called “dog-eared” pages. I’m a book, not a dog… Using a Bookmark I … Bookmarks

Please use Book Bags Book bags will keep your books safe from the weather and other things that could damage them. HELP!! I’m lost!! Plus, if you keep your books in a bag, they stay safe together…and you will be able to find them when you want to read them or return them to the library. Otherwise they might get lost in your home and get hurt. DUST BUNNIES!!!

Tip #3: Getting Books Back to the Library The Return Date Renewing Books Returning Books

The return date, or due date, is the date that your library books should be returned to the library. You should always try to bring your library books on time so you don’t get late fees. It`s important to bring your books back to the library so that other people can read them, too. Due Date:

If you want or need to keep your books longer you can always try to renew them. Renewing books allows you to keep them a bit longer. There are three ways that you can renew books. You can : Go to the Library, Call the Library, Go on the Library’s website. ** Always make sure you have your library card with you to renew your books. May I renew these books, please? (ext. 244)

When you bring your books back to the library, please put them in one of the book chutes for the librarian to put away. Please let the librarians put the books away Then, you can go get more!

If you take a book off the shelves and don’t know where to put it back, ask a librarian for help... YAY!...we know where their home is. When you’re picking out books…

By taking good care of library books, you – and many others - can enjoy them over and over again. Thanks for being a reader! And thanks for taking good care of me!!
