1.0 Introduction TVET strategies aims at directing the sub sector to be the center excellence for the provision of adequate and demand driven skilled labor force for development of the economy of individuals and the Nation at large. Strategies developed and being implemented have been mentioned and addressed by my Hon. Minister. To a great extent, EFE project has complimented efforts being taken to address the problem of the current state of TVET institutions producing graduates who do no meet employment demands. 10/5/2014 Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Tanzania4

2.1 how continues Favored agricultural programmes by the fact that, 5 out of the 12 institutions offer agricultural programmes – complimenting the initiative of Kilimo Kwanza (Agriculture First) strategy of revitalizing agriculture:-  Agriculture is the major economic activity;  Agriculture is the back borne of the economy. 10/5/2014 Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Tanzania6

2.2 Why has this worked EFE support has worked to date because:  Coordination of EFE activities is within the ministry structure (PCU);  Change Management Committee (CMC) a decision making organ engages main stakeholders;  Eyes on hands off approach in coordination of institutional partnerships;  Political will of decision makers of both partners; and  A committed and competent STA from Canada. 10/5/2014 Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Tanzania8

2.3 Interventions taken The following interventions were taken:  Workshops conducted to 148 teachers on development and delivery of CBET curriculum;  Workshops conducted to 20 institutional managers and administrators on labor market surveys and analysis;  12 programmes reviewed and/or developed; and  Engagement of private sector in provision of TVET;  National symposium convened under the theme of ‘Aligning Skills Development in Tanzania to meet labor Market Needs’ – 72 stakeholders. 10/5/2014 Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Tanzania10

2.4 Results achieved Results achieved to date include:  Change of attitude and commitment of Tanzanian teachers who were exposed in Canadian institutions;  Capacity building to teachers in CBET best practices;  Capacity building to Government and institutions managers and administrators in labor market information and analysis; and  capacity building in leadership and entrepreneurship in TVET. 10/5/2014 Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Tanzania11

3.0 Three important actions Over the next year, EFE Tanzania intends to: 1. To train teachers, managers, administrators and employers on CBET best practices and its benefits; 2. To strengthen management of TVET by conducting leadership skills training to managers and administrators of TVET; and 3. To hold a symposium of key stakeholders to give a platform for evaluating EFE activities conducted to date. 4. *To develop an EFE exit strategy for sustainability of the outputs*. 10/5/2014 Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Tanzania12
