History Sátoraljaújhely was granted town status in 1261 by King Stephan V. The city has often played an important role in t he region’s history.
History In the Treaty of Trianon Hungary lost northern territories. The border was set to the Ronyva stream, splitting the city into two parts. Two railway lines and the industrial zone were lost. The town’s industry was being rebuilt between the wars, but the World War II. stopped this development. During the reorganisation of administration in 1950, Zemplén became a part of the united Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, and Sátoraljaújhely lost its county capital status.

It containes: the longest chairlift in Europe, the longest bob- sled track of Middle-Europe, a plastic ski- slope, a tubby-tr a ck, and an adventure park. It is being built, but you can try the bob, and the chairlift already.
