Regions and Eco zones Of Canada

What is a region? A region is an area which has similar characteristics or features. For Example: Landforms Climate Vegetation Soil Human activity

Canada is such a large and diverse country, that organization of information is needed. One way that geographers organize this information in be creating regions.

What is an Eco Zone? Eco zones are large regions where living things such as, people and the physical environment work together as a system. The study of eco zones looks at how human activities interact with the natural environment within a particular region.

Why are eco zones created? Eco zones are used to study the interaction between human activities and the natural environment within a particular region.

Examples of why this is important. 1. Where to build cities. 2. Transportation routes. 3. Agriculture –growing seasons, soil type, drainage.
