Instructor Senior Instructor Professor of Teaching - outstanding achievement in teaching and educational leadership - distinction in teaching and learning - sustained and innovative contributions to curriculum development, course design, and other initiatives that advance the University’s ability to excel in its teaching and learning mandate Professor of Teaching Tenure Track Stream

Educational Leadership Impact beyond one’s own classroom Supports scholarly teaching at UBC through: Application of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Curriculum design/re-design Pedagogical innovation Evaluation/assessment of learning/programs Innovation in the use of learning technology Administration of educational programs/initiatives Peer support/mentoring in teaching and learning Contribution to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (not required – but can be used as evidence of leadership)

Common Questions: Are publications required for tenure/promotion? “publications record is not required, but should be included if the candidate wishes to present publications as evidence supporting his/her contributions to teaching and/or educational leadership” (SAC Guide 4.2.2) What evidence is required to demonstrate educational leadership? “This evidence will vary in departments and faculties to reflect different contexts and educational leadership needs/opportunities within the department/unit, university and academic/professional communities within the candidates’ discipline” (SAC Guide 4.4.1)

Common Questions (cd): “evidence can include, but is not limited to: leadership taken at UBC and elsewhere to advance innovation and excellence in teaching; contributions to curriculum renewal (in department/Faculty); pedagogical innovation (including, but not limited to, the use of educational technology); scholarly teaching within and outside the unit (including interdisciplinary/cross-departmental/Faculty collaboration); applications of and contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning (including scholarship applied in own classroom; scholarship disseminated through presentations, workshops, publications; serving as reviewer of SEoT grants/manuscripts, etc.) What are some examples of acceptable evidence?
