Presentation transcript:

 “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there.”  Lewis Carroll, author of Alice in Wonderland

 As school council members, you have an important role to play in supporting the School Success Plan at your school.  By planning ahead and setting well- developed goals and objectives, you will be able to: ◦ focus council activities on issues that are important to student success at your school and in your community ◦ get the best results from your efforts if you have a clear idea of what you want ◦ to achieve and a plan to help you get there.

 Schedule a planning meeting and invite all school council members to attend.  Ask your principal to present the School Success Plan and discuss it with council members.  Once you know your school priorities for the year ahead, you can set goals and plan activities that will support student success.

 Ask yourselves the following questions: ◦ Where are we now? ◦ Where do we want to be?

 You only need a few goals to be effective. If you have too many, you may find that you don’t have the resources to reach your targets.  You should choose goals that solve a problem, fulfill a need or take advantage of a good opportunity.  Set SMART goals  Always keep the School’s Success Plan in mind.
