Volleyball Canada Centre of Excellence Fraser Valley East (Abbotsford)
1. Canadian athletes have poor fundamental volleyball skills. 2. Canadian year old athletes are around 100 hours/year short in the LTAD recommended amount of practice time. 3. Canadian youth are coached by volunteers, whereas other top countries use paid professionals 4. Very few athletes are training enough, in a quality environment. Target of 800 (per gender) across Canada for grades What is the problem?
1.Provide training for year olds 2 days a week for 6.5 months (100 hours). This allows us to reach the recommended 4 days a week for 9 months. 2.Provide training for year olds 1 day a week for 6.5 months (50 hours). This allow us to help prepare these younger athletes for the increase of training recommended in the upcoming years of their volleyball career. 3.Use professional ‘development coaches’ What is the Solution?
