Review of Task Force Progress to Date: Where We Were Policy Research Small Group Work Presentations Transcriptions Policy vs. Procedure Final Report

Policy Research At the beginning of the project in June of 2000, the Task Force was convened and met to determine its mission. Policy Research was conducted and many formats and approaches were examined.

Small Group Work As the work of the task force progressed, small groups were formed and many issues for consideration began to emerge. It became apparent that presentations would be needed in order to address many of the issues of concern in an informed manner.

Presentations Presentations were provided by the director of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution and the (Lauren Lazurus). Victim Advocacy Center director and assistant director presented an overview of the policy research, highlighting several possible examples to use as a model. The task force demonstrated consensus on the use of the University of South Carolinas policy as a format to build on.

Records of Proceedings A record of the proceedings which contained the work of the task force was maintained throughout the process. These transcriptions were analyzed in preparation of the drafting process for the final policy document which would cover 4 areas: relationship violence, sexual assault, stalking and cyber stalking.

Policy and Procedure A policy and procedure draft was forged by the work of the task force, after careful review and synthesis of the proceedings record the draft was presented. It was then decided based on the length of the document and the time frame for the work to be completed that the policy draft would be separated from the procedure draft.

Final Report An evaluation of the work of the task force was conducted by an independent evaluator. The work product; a draft of the policy recommendations was submitted with to the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women.

Plan of Action for the Task Force: Where We Are Going? Committee work Action steps that coordinate the policy 10 meetings over 18 months

Committee work The task force will be working as a group of smaller committees in order to address sub-sections of the procedure document. The procedure document has been drafted and will be refined in sections, based on areas of interest and expertise.

Action Steps The work of the task force for the next 18 months will is to refine the action steps that will coordinate the policy document. The actions steps may be based on other models that will be made available to the committees for reference.

Future Meetings We will convene 10 meetings in total over the next 18 months. The meetings will be two hours in duration and will be run by the facilitator. We welcome your feedback as we engage in this process of creating a procedure that will guide the policy.
