Mem and her family are moving from Connecticut to go to the Genesee Country. On their way they face difficult obstacles and life changing decisions. In this time the family becomes stressed and they start to fall apart all this family needs is hope and hopefully Mem is the one to give it to them. Summary

Beginning In the beginning Mem and her family have to sell everything that wont be needed at the new land. Before they leave Mems grandma gives Mem a traditional locket passed down from grandma to granddaughter. When they leave theyre accompanied friends and neighbors.

Middle In the middle Mem and her family stay at a hotel called the Red Loin. There they meet the drovers. Mems father makes the drovers mad. Then Mems father gets in a fight with the head drover beside the outhouse. During the fight one of the drovers drags Mem by her braids. Later that night Mem cut off her braids. When they were leaving the tavern Mem dropped her locket while sitting in the back of the wagon. When Mem tried to get her locket she falls out of the wagon and nobody knows. One of the drovers saw Mem after she fell out of the wagon. In the middle Mem and her family stay at a hotel called the Red Loin. There they meet the drovers. Mems father makes the drovers mad. Then Mems father gets in a fight with the head drover beside the outhouse. During the fight one of the drovers drags Mem by her braids. Later that night Mem cut off her braids. When they were leaving the tavern Mem dropped her locket while sitting in the back of the wagon. When Mem tried to get her locket she falls out of the wagon and nobody knows. One of the drovers saw Mem after she fell out of the wagon.

Middle The drover then chased her into the woods. Mem ran till she could not here the drover. That night she stayed in a hollow tree. During the night she saw a mountain lion eating a deer. The next day she searched for food, water and a way to get out of the woods. The next day while shes searching for a way out of the woods and she finds a person named Artemus Ware. Mr. Ware helps Mem find a way out of the woods.

End Mem finds the tavern called Belles Tavern. There Mem is hired by Belle as a waitress. There Mem is treated badly by the other two waitresses. So that night Mem left for the Red Lion hoping that was that her family was there. Mem finds the tavern called Belles Tavern. There Mem is hired by Belle as a waitress.
