Sexual Health Competency Standards for Primary Health Care Nurses Were developed out of consultation with PHCNs and in partnership with APNA, ASHM, SHIL and APNA Aim to support primary health care nurses both as a professional development resource to increase their scope of work and for use as an advocacy tool in the GP practice Launched at the APNA Conference in April 2013 and are available on the STIPU website Promoted in variety of ways through e- newsletters, blogs, links on websites including Medicare Locals, GPNSW, APNA, Australian Nursing Federation, Sexual Health Services

Sexual Health Competency Standards for Primary Health Care Nurses As a result of the interest, STIPU are developing an interactive version and complementary documents such as the Assessor Guidelines and Practice Skills Guidelines Training will be facilitated this year with ASHM to support the PHCNs achieving the standards Further dissemination and an online presence are planned for the standards

Primary Health Care Nurses and Sexual Health One day sexual health introductory course piloted at the APNA conference received with positive feedback. The course was revised following the pilot and will roll out this year in partnership with ASHM Development of a clinical attachment tool for PHCNS to take up placements in publicly funded sexual health services Development of clinical guidelines for PHCNs on sexual health Development of a sexual health information sheet for PHCNs with the Australian Medicare Local Alliance in line with their current resources Further work is being undertaken to support PHCNS to undertake a greater sexual health care role including:
