Global Experience

What is Global Experience? A program to help UniSA students develop more skills, more experience, more knowledge and build more networks. Why? It’s competitive out there! Global Experience provide s UniSA students with a competitive edge after they graduate and in the employment market. How? By rewarding you for completing extra-curricular activities while you are studying at UniSA. Can I do it? YES! Any UniSA student can do the Global Experience program- you can even sign up after enrolling at UniSA!

What exactly can I do? You name it! From student exchange to volunteering, work experience, an internship, Business Mates to studying a language- YOU choose what you want to undertake as part of the Global Experience program. What’s more, YOU choose what activity you want to complete and when- you can even complete Global Experience over your 3 years at UniSA. Want to make contacts to help your future career? Then come and see us- through the Global Experience program you can also make valuable networks to help you when you graduate.

How do it do it? In four easy steps….. 1. Attend a GE Orientation session ( 5 points) 2. Complete the Global Experience Professional Development (BUSS1056) elective course ( 10 points) 3. Choose activities for your Experience Suite..student exchange, Business Mates, PASS, volunteer work, internships, language studies..the list is endless! ( 100 points) 4. Complete the program capstone MyAdvantage Development Experience…what’s more this will help you in your future career!

Program Capstone MyAdvantage Requirement: 5 points Experience Suite Requirement: 100 points Networking Additional GE Workshops Part of Experience Suite 13 available in points per workshop, max of 30 points Intercultural Communication Career Management Course BUSS 1056 Global Experience Professional Development: Requirement: 10 points Orientation Requirement: 5 pts Total value= 120 points  You can earn even more than 120 Points- there is no limit!! Orientation= 5 points BUSS1056= 10 points Experience Suite= 100 points MyAdvantage= 5 points

Experience Suite ExamplesPoints One Study Period overseas (exchange, volunteering, internship, work experience) 50 Volunteering locally for an approved organisation in an activity with international focus (80 hours) 30 Overseas Short-term study tour (4.5 units) 20 Active participation in an international conference (including presenting, workshop participation or other approved activity) 20 Course – Language (Including English as a second language) or International Studies or Internship or Practicum (4.5 units) within a student’s academic program (one only) 15 Mentoring in an approved project for 1 SP or more 15 Volunteering locally for an approved organisation in an activity with international focus (40 hours) 15 Key role (President, VP, Secretary or Treasurer) on a globally focused club or society for a minimum of 1 year 10 Active participation at a local conference focused on international issues 10 Attendance at a local conference focused on international issues 5 Attendance at on campus events, workshops or seminars (total of 3 allowed) 5 each Writing for an online news sheet with international focus 5 Exchange blog (consistent postings describing experiences & learning outcomes whilst on exchange) 5

There are many benefits of doing the GE program….more skills, more experience, meet new people. You ALSO get: A Global Experience completion award on your official UniSA Transcript A Global Experience completion certificate A letter from the director of the program listing the activities you have completed and the skills you have gained What’s more…we also have an annual graduation dinner just for Global Experience students! So what do I get?

So you want to apply? Students can apply for the GE program at any stage of the year- even outside the regular Study Periods Registration is via the GE website and is as simple as completing an online form Once the GE Team confirm registration in the program, students can start accruing points Even for activities completed before they join GE! How to you find GE on the UniSA website…..
