Swinburne SCIENCE | TECHNOLOGY | INNOVATION | BUSINESS | DESIGN Information for mentors 1.Readiness for promotion Staff considering applying for promotion will normally discuss and plan with their supervisor in the years leading up to the application Applicants should be able to provide evidence that they have the capacity to perform at the level they are applying for Applicants should treat the application the same way they would a job application i.e. -Does the application address the criteria in the MSALs? -Have main points been highlighted? -Is it formatted correctly? -Are there adequate referees and endorsement? Attributes of a strong application

Swinburne SCIENCE | TECHNOLOGY | INNOVATION | BUSINESS | DESIGN Information for mentors 2. Presenting their case Applicants should provide a well constructed case to demonstrate their contributions which are relevant to the level of promotion The summary statement should be an organised, well balanced narrative that clearly demonstrates the case to the committee for them to consider the applicant’s strengths, contributions and achievements against the criteria Attributes of a strong application
