Overview of “Investigation of First Year Experience” (Kerri-Lee Krause, 2003) Based on first year students… It’s all about… building a framework… setting priorities… etc.

1. Develop a Department of Information Systems Teaching and Learning Plan i. Strategies including: a. identifying students at-risk; b. enhancing student participation; and c. monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching and feedback. ii. Curriculum coherence with Professional Skills Program. iii. Student recruitment and student identity. 2. Consolidate and evaluate the IS101 program. 3. Establish a DIS website management group to clearly communicate: i. what study in Information Systems involves, ii.what it offers in terms of career prospects, iii. some of the graduate success stories, and iv. what makes study in DIS at the University of Melbourne distinctive and appealing. Recommendations
