CHAPTER 14 X Ash’s mother draws the attention of the werewolf and is taken by the monster. Why would the author have chosen to do this awful thing? How will it effect the plot for this rest of the novel? Do you think Ash will rescue her? If so, how? Ash becomes very angry with Jaden in this chapter, pushing him to the floor and hitting him. Do you think he should have reacted this way?

CHAPTER 15 X The police officer (Oliver) would not listen to Ash, Emily, and Jaden. Do you think that was right? Make a list of all the people you could turn to if you needed help. Officer Oliver didn ’ t believe Jaden because he is a town troublemaker. So the moral here is not to cause trouble, because if you get into trouble nobody will help you!

CHAPTER 16 X 1. We now have a new character in Psych, who may not believe the trio but is at least helping them. What do you think about this character? What could he do to be more involved in the story? 2. Create an inventory of all the supplies you would use to bring down a werewolf and an evil group that have kidnapped your mother. Be realistic (it’s harder than you think). Remember - Psych either bought or made the supplies from old scrap. His inventing skills might come in handy over the series.

CHAPTER 18 X The trio have entered The Flats at night. Why? Why not sneak in during the day, when it’s not as dark and potentially scary? How would you get through The Flats, to the metal platform?

CHAPTER 19 X Jaden revealed scratches all over his body, so what might be happening to him over the next few chapters? Why would the author make this happen to him, and how could this affect his relationship with Ash? Jaden has done something by leading Ash and Emily to The Flats - he doesn’t want Emily to get hurt, but it might be too late. What do you think he has actually done? Make a prediction.
