BB’s No.2 Section Award System Inspiring and recognising young people’s achievements & progress in all areas of life

Introduction The Award System encourages young people to pursue interests and experiences that will broaden their perspectives and abilities, as well as reward them for their efforts and progress. Intentionally all areas of life are covered by the broad categories of the awards, so as to recognise their learning and emphasise God’s desire to be involved with all aspects of each individual’s life.

Anchor Boy & No. 1 Section Service Minimum Age for level 1: BB12 Requirements: Active membership in relevant Section and transferred to the next. Available levels: For No. 1 Section - the colour obtained corresponds to the highest achievement badge earned in No. 1. Required for Queen’s: Optional.

Six Month Service Minimum Age for award: Any Requirements: Good conduct for at least six months; and basic BB Knowledge (Object, founding, uniform, Company structure). Available levels: Only one may be earned. Required for Queen’s: Yes.

One Year Service - Bronze & Silver Minimum Age for level 1: Any Requirements: Minimum 90% attendance of Parade nights (+90% attendance at some form of Christian instruction for Silver Award) for a year. Available levels: One a year. Required for Queen’s: 3 Silver One Year service.

Long Year Service Minimum Age for level 1: 16 Requirements: Good conduct for at least 4.5 sessions. Available levels: If maintained membership from Anchor Boys - a Blue felt may be worn. If joined in No. 1 Section, a red felt may be worn. Required for Queen’s: Optional. No1 - Red Backing AB - Blue Backing

L1 - the Badge L2 - Red Backing L3 - Blue Backing L4 - White backing L5 - Gold backing Scripture Knowledge Minimum Age for level 1: 12 Requirements: 3 Months study on the Bible and its application and demonstrate application of knowledge gained. Available levels: 5 Required for Queen’s: 3 levels.

L1 - the Badge L2 - Red Backing L3 - Blue Backing L4 - White backing L5 - Gold backing Community Service Minimum Age for level 1: 12 Requirements: Training and practical service over a required period of time. A report must be submitted detailing duties or the organisation worked with.period of time Available levels: 5 Required for Queen’s: 3 levels.

BB Knowledge Certificates BBK Preliminary Certificate Requirements: 6mths Service Award; knowledge of The Object, Motto and its origin, BB origins and history from the Boy’s Handbook, Drill Definitions & carry out all movements of Elementary Drill with practical ability as a member of a Drill Squad BBK Certificate Requirements: Preliminary Cert, knowledge of The Object, BB origins and history in Australia, BB State and National organisation, Squad Drill Theory, & carry out all movements of Squad Drill and capable to act as a Guide in Squad Drill. Required for Queen’s: Optional. BBK Preliminary certificate min age: 13BB BBK Certificate min age: 14BB

L1 - the Badge Previous Silv - White backing Previous Gold - Gold backing Minimum Age for badge: 12 Requirements: Only available to someone who attends a Pan-Australian Camp and achieves the requirements set for that camp for the award - either at Silver or Gold standard. Available Levels: Only one Pentapac badge may be worn. If a second award is gained, a back cloth is worn to signify the second award gained, white for Silver or gold for Gold, behind the badge first gained. Required for Queen’s: Optional Pentapac

PFC Award: Blue Lanyard Minimum Age for award: 14 Requirements: –1 One Year Silver Service; –At least one weekend leadership braid;leadership –2 levels for Community Service & Scripture Knowledge; –at least 3 levels from each of the Skills group, the Outdoor Adventure group, & the Physical group; –5 other levels in an Activity area (excluding the BB Knowledge Awards); –Captain’s approval. Private First Class

Minimum Age for award: 16 Requirements: –3 One Year Silver Service; –Green or White leadership braid;leadership –the BB Knowledge Badge; –3 levels for Community Service & Scripture Knowledge; –2 levels for Citizenship; –at least 4 levels from each of the Skills group, the Outdoor Adventure group, & the Physical group; –5 other levels in an Activity area; –Captain’s approval. The Queen’s Badge

THE BRIGADE CROSS FOR HEROISM will be worn on the left breast, to the left of any other medal. THE ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY MEDAL will be worn on the right breast. BRIGADE NAME BADGE when issued to a Boy it will be worn on the left pocket flap positioned centrally with the top edge of the badge in line with the top of the flap. UNAUTHORISED BADGES OR BUTTONS are not to be worn on parade. Boys’ Brigade Award badges are not to be worn other than at Brigade activities. Special medals & badges
