My Life as a Book Janet Tashjian By: Emily Wesley

Summary My Life As A Book is about a boy named Derek who is a great reader and likes to be adventurous. Derek discovers a newspaper in his attic about a girl drowning and saving a little boy. That little boy was Derek. Derek is now trying to discover how he was involved and what really happened. Will Derek really find out the true secret?

Favorite Part My favorite part of My Life As A Book was when Derek went to Martha’s Vineyard beach and went into a shop to find the girl’s friend; and when he found her, she was working at a little bracelet shop and he sat down and she told Derek about what happened.

Cause & Effect Cause: Derek found the newspaper in the attic Effect: Making him wanting to find out more about it Cause: Derek realized that everyone was telling him false things about the news paper Effect: Causing him to find out the real truth and ask other people who know about it

Moods Curious: Derek is curious about finding more information and learning the truth about the newspaper and the drowning. Nervous: Derek was nervous when he was asking different people what really happened the day of the drowning. Happy: Derek was happy to find out what really happened about the drowning and to get it off his chest.
