Today's Objectives: We will: visualize the descriptions and events in texts and describe how this strategy can help enhance a reader’s comprehension draft an illustration, diagram, emotive drawing or other visual to illustrate an aspect of your personal narrative write independently for at least 20 minutes and/ or conference with teacher (time permitting)

When we visualize, we make mental picturesas we read When we visualize, we make mental picturesas we read. Visualizing helps us to understand the text and remember what we've read. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words! Visualizing Strategy Read (or listen) Picture (make a mental image) Plan (think about what you imagined) Draw (your visualization) Listen and visualize as I read this passage.

My Visualization

Let's Practice! Listen to this passage from the essay, Grandmother, that we have been working with and visualize what you are hearing.

Your Turn! My Visualization

Writers at Work! Tasks at hand: sketching an illustration, diagram or emotive drawing of a scene from their personal narrative revising essays, paying special attention to comma confusions and incorporating real talk

Wrap it up! What aspect of your personal narrative did you choose to sketch? Why? Make sure all of your work from today is dated and placed in your writing folder. Tomorrow we will give the sentences in our essays some swagger. They are going to be such show-offs!
