Divorce used to be difficult to obtain and so very few divorces took place People were looked down on if they were divorced It was impossible for them to re-marry in church Divorce is a normal part of life There has been a great increase in the number of divorces It is now estimated that more then two in five marriages will end in divorce!

Nowadays most divorces occur after 10 years which was the average length of marriage 100 years ago.
