REVIEW OF ASSESSMENT OUTCOME 1 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of digital media elements. What You Had to Show in a Multiple Choice Question Set: (a) Identify file formats for different media elements. (b) Describe properties of file formats. (c) Describe different types of compression. (d) Describe copyright issues relating to media elements.

Next Assessments are “OPEN BOOK” Candidates will have access to notes, reference materials and on-line help for these assessments – but not each other’s work! Candidates will have to demonstrate the successful completion and recording of the set of tasks. This evidence will be gathered through a set of consecutive tasks (treated as a single extended task) resulting in a set of media elements being incorporated into a multimedia application

TESTING YOUR KNOWLEDGE For each Assessment Outcome there will be an opportunity for a run-through before the actual Assessment. Time is short with only 5 Mondays between now and the end of the course! To be successful: Your work-rate has to be good Absences have to be avoided Your concentration level has to be at its best! Additional study time will have to be used

(c) Manipulate a range of media elements. (d) Select and use appropriate file formats for the storage of media elements.

ASSESSMENT OUTCOME 4 Integrate digital media elements into a multimedia application. What You Have To Do (a) Select and use appropriate file formats for the media elements that match the multimedia application. (b) Acknowledge copyright for media elements. (c) Integrate media elements into a multimedia application. (d) Run the multimedia application.

Microsoft Movie Maker (in Microsoft’s Own Words)! Windows Movie Maker makes home movies amazingly fun. With Movie Maker you can create, edit, and share your home movies right on your computer. Build your movie with a few simple drag-and-drops. Delete bad shots and include only the best scenes. Then share your movie via the Web, , or CD. Using third-party software (like Sony Vegas) you can even take movies you've made and turn them into DVDs. You can also save your movie back to the video tape in your camera to play back on a TV or on the camera itself.
