Teen Drama Series

The O.C is a teen drama show that is about a boy named Ryan, from the poor part of town and is already starting to be involved in the crime life. His lawyer named Sandy Cohen takes him home to live with his family in the rich part of Newport Beach. Ryan doesn’t know anyone around that area, until he meets Sandy’s son Seth, and his neighbors daughter Marissa and develops feelings for her. Ryan can still manage to get in trouble though. This teen drama series basically follows the lives of the Cohens, and the Coopers (Marissa’s family), as they deal with life in Newport. INTRODUCTION

The show takes place in Newport Beach and it is a sunny, rich beautiful area with sandy beaches & clear gorgeous water. The scenes mostly take place at Ryan or Marissa’s house. This setting for the show tells us that this is a rich area and it sets up a cozy feeling. SETTING

RYAN Ryan is a teen boy who gets in a lot of trouble, in the poor part of town where he is from. His lawyer Sandy Cohen brings him to live with his family & try to get him to be good and to stay out of trouble. He encounters troubles with boys in the new part of town & finds “attraction” to the neighbor girl Marissa.

MARISSA Marissa is a rich girl that lives next door to the Cohen’s and she becomes friends and develops feelings for Ryan. She has a boyfriend and he doesn’t like the fact that her and Ryan hang out all the time. She is a good girl and doesn’t like to be in trouble, but when Ryan doesn’t like living with the Cohens her devil shines through to help him stay around.

SANDY COHEN Sandy is a lawyer who takes Ryan home to live with him and hopefully change him for the better. His wife doesn’t like the fact that he is bringing home “strays” to live with them.

This show has many issues throughout, and it is after all a teen show, there comes many problems such as love, friend issues, and parental stuff. Google says that the show had at 700,000 signatures to keep it on. I think that is a pretty good rating considering that it is a teen show. ISSUES & VIEWS

I would compare this show to One Tree Hill, because it is basically the same thing. One Tree Hill is another teen drama which had almost the same story line. One Tree Hill has more ratings though and more viewers. It’s like Degrassi. COMPARISON
