 Mac vs PC By: Mau Maulupe

What computer brand do you prefer?  According to Mautumua Porotesano Macs are much better than PCs because they don’t get viruses as easily as PCs.  Because they last longer than most PCs.

Would you stick with your answer if you found out that even Macs have problems?  Mua’s answer was yes, because she once owned a PC and when she used it for the same purposes as her Mac, the PC crashed. While her Mac is still working up till this day

Pros for Macs  Better at multi-tasking, memory management, and file system management than Windows  More stable overall - doesn't experience "slow-down" that Windows usually do after running for more than 4 or 5 days and doing more than just idling  One version of the OS versus 11 versions (OS X is one version that can run either in 32-bit or 64-bit mode, where Vista has 6 32-bit and 5 64-bit versions)  Many components included in the OS are based on Open Source (BSD Kernel is just the tip of the iceberg) and lots of add-ons are Open Source programs  More friendly in terms of user interaction

 Thousands of programs available - from the standards like Microsoft Office, Yahoo Messenger, Adobe Photoshop, and Quicken, to things you usually only find on Linux and UNIX machines  Support for lots of mainstream hardware using USB or FireWire standards, along with some devices you normally wouldn't think a computer could use  Target Disk Mode (on models with FireWire ports) allow one Mac to use another as an external hard drive and DVD drive with no special software  The keyboards are extremely comfortable, and are backlit on all the laptops except the White model

Pros for PCs  A lot of customization available on the market.  Much easier to replace and upgrade parts on your own.  Desktop towers tend to be quite roomy, and it’s not too hard to determine the function of each part.  More computer repair places fix PCs.  PC parts also tend to be much cheaper than Mac parts, and also come in greater varieties.  All Mac software works on PCs, but not nearly as many PC software work on Macs.  Easier to fix PC problems yourself, since it’s easier to access the operating system.

Macs  Macs may cost a lot, but if you were to calculate how much money you waste on repairing PCs it would probably cost much more than it does for that one payment you make to buy a Mac.  Macs are also much more durable then PCs
