 Advances EPA Science by Integrating ORD Research and Technology in Agency Decisions  Formulates ORD Recommendations for Use in Agency Regulations, Policies and Guidance  Tribal Science Council and Board of Scientific Counselors, FTTA, AA support  Regulatory Support Program  Regional Science Program – Links ORD Science with EPAs Regional Offices, States and local governments – building partnerships for effective transfer of research results on high priority issues

 Regional Science Liaisons (RSLs) and Superfund and Technology Liaisons (STLs)  The RSLs are a team of 10 senior scientists, one in each of the ten Regional Offices.  The four core RSL activities are:  (1) communicate and transfer ORD science products to the Regional Offices  (2) manage the Regional Applied Research Effort (RARE), Regional Methods (RM), Regional Research Partnership Program (RRPP), and Regional Science Workshops  (3) support Regional Office participation in ORD research planning and Agency decision making.

 ORD senior scientists and engineers located in the ten EPA Regional Offices - focus on hazardous waste issues Superfund and RCRA  Program was created jointly by ORD, OSWER and the Regional office in 1990 and is managed by the Office of Science Policy  Coordinate technical support, including site-specific technical support, through ORD’s Technical Support Centers/ Agency sources of expertise - Superfund and RCRA Programs  Facilitate technology and information transfer from any relevant and credible environmental resource through many venues including conferences, technical workshops and publications

 Engaging the EPA Regions early and throughout the process  Enhance communication opportunities throughout life-cycle of grant  Encourage grantees to update interested Regional staff on progress  Consider cooperative agreements where appropriate  Consider additional vehicles for application of promising grant products

 Past collaboration  NARPM Nanotech Session and other NIEHS efforts  Arsenic Meeting - Boston  Try to meet during SRP Annual Meeting  Relevancy Reviews  Suggestions on Topics for Grants  Seminars  Build Upon “Bioassay Network” and model of Donnelly  Outreach to potential users, willingness to adapt, interest in input, NRPM meeting, STLs, ORD, OSWER
