 A futuristic robot who can take the place of surgeons today.  Some examples of surgeries it has the ability to perform are gynecologic, urologic, cardiac, thoracic, and other surgeries that require a large incision to be made.

 The robot is used all over the world, except in countries that are limited in money because it costs about $1.75 Million to make each robot.  The robot has four interactive arms which each have different function and “wrists” with a degree movement of 8 per each wrist.

 It’s main use is to perform surgeries that would otherwise leave large and noticeable scars for the patient.  It also has the ability to perform small scaled surgeries that the surgeon would have difficulties performing with their larger hands.  It has also been tested with some fun activities, such as doing origami, playing Operation, and peeling the skin off of a grape.origamiOperationgrape

 The robot is operated by the surgeon, from a hand control and a 3-D surgical field around him or her. This can be seen by a small camera inside the patient.  The arms and tools mimic the hand movements of the surgeon’s hands.

 The surgeon’s area has the ability to send sensors to the arms and “wrists” of the tool, to mimic the action done by the surgeon.  The surgeon basically performs the surgery with his or her own hands, but the robot mimics the motion.

 The surgeon can perform more precisely and have more control of the surgery  The patient will not have a large incision/scar when they heal.

 The da Vinci Surgical System also costs a lot of money, so hospitals may or may not be able to afford it.  There is also still some room for human error because the surgeon still performs the surgeon.

 Less room for human mistakes, like steady hands etc.  People will no longer have large scars in the future from past surgeries.

 It must be built and assembled by people  People must design the technology to create the robot  People sell the robots  People must inspect the robot to make sure it is functioning properly

 Could add more joints so it may be more flexible in the future and perform tasks more easier  The equipment could be smaller, and less bulkier in the future.
