Spring 2014 RTW

VALUE D&G’s Spring 2014 RTW Collection includes a full range of values from high key to low key, as well as outfits with a full range within themselves. This creates variety within the collection.

TEMPERATURE Cool Warm There is a balance of both cool and warm temperatures within the collection.

UNITY & VARIETY Patterns and shapes are shared between outfits in this collection creating a sense of unity. A customer can switch items around constantly allowing freedom. Variety within this collection lies in the lengths, flow and fabric, along with the color.

BALANCE/SYMMETRY Items within this collection were 100% balanced with 100% symmetry. Because it is a collection for RTW, I think D&G were clever to create a symmetrical balanced collection because these are qualities which make the outfits very wearable.

CONTRAST There was a lot of contrast in terms of color in this collection; cuts and styles were similar and standard throughout. About 90% of the color had saturated colors while the remaining outfits were black and white. Color blocking was used about 5% of the time. The outfits were mostly a single solid color, or they were tinted/shaded or analogous. D&G did not go out of their way to mix various colors.

Conclusion D&G created a very wearable, balanced, yet colorful and enigmatic collection for RTW Spring There were many colors, but only one or two were used in each outfit, and shapes, silhouettes and symmetry were maintained throughout. D&G, if anything, played mostly with fabrics: chiffon, fur, cotton, etc.
