For my Final Major Project I am going to adapt Chat Room and create a multi media stage play. The original stage play was created by the Irish playwright Enda Walsh and was then turned into a film by Director Hideo Nakata. The subject matter is online safety and the threats and dangers of using the internet. DEVELOPMENT OF IDEAS FOR A CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUCT Adapted by Dante O’Connor CHAT ROOM

This project is a piece of theatre concerning online safety. For this reason it could be considered suitable for most audiences., however, some of the subject matter is mature, so it wouldn’t be suitable for younger audiences. The film aspect of Chat Room was rated by the BBFC as a 15 ( IDENTIFY THE TARGET AUDIENCE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS:

Peer pressure Suicide Self harm Bullying WHAT ISSUES DOES THE PRODUCTION ADDRESS? Cyber bullying Depression Alienation Manipulation

Video camera with memory card 6 character actors Green screen White cloth screen for back projection 2 projectors + laptops Plyboard & wood for door White Paint Can of black spray paint Card for stencil 6 foot art canvas IDENTIFY THE RANGE OF RESOURCES AND MATERIALS AVAILABLE TO YOU Crates for wall Crash mat Desk 5 chairs 2 laptops for onstage + media Editing software Adobe Flash 3 spotlights Costumes

I plan to create two scenes from the Chatroom and film the live performance for the final major project The first scene is the introduction of the main characters and how they interact in the chatroom The second scene is where William has hacked into the system to appear as Jim. THE PROJECT
