North West Sports League Football Rules 1.All normal F.A. rules apply 2.All teams must adhere to FA Respect Programme. 3.Each college / 6 th Form must play their strongest team in the 1 st Football Division throughout the entire season. 4.All players representing a college/school must be full-time students, and be under the age of 19 on the 1st September of that academic year. 5.Points awarded shall be 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. 6.Matches shall be played in 2 halves – each of 40 minutes duration. Only after consultation between both managers/coaches, shall an alternative agreed time take place – e.g. due to poor light. However, in order that a result be valid the game shall consist of minimum 30 minute halves. 7.Size 5 match balls should be used. 8.A maximum of 5 substitutes can be named per side – no ‘roll on roll off’ substitutions are permitted - however 5 substitutions can be made. Any player who is substituted and leaves the field of play shall not be permitted to re-enter the game. 9.In an event of two or more teams being equal on points at the end of the season the winner shall be the college with the best goal difference (goals scored minus goals against). In the event that teams are still level on points, then goals scored will decide the winner. If teams are still equal, the winner shall be the team who won that season’s fixture between the two teams. 10.Referees must be independent and qualified. Officials are to be paid by the home side. 11.In the event that a match official cannot be obtained for a fixture, then a member of staff must take charge of the game. Under no circumstances should a student be allowed to referee the game – unless he/she is a qualified official. This is extremely important for legal reasons!! 12.Assistant referees shall be permitted and used at the discretion of the referee and the staff concerned. 13.All sending-off and/or cautions should be sent off to; 14.Dean Kimpton, Hopwood Hall College, Henry West Building 134, Middleton Campus, Rochdale Road, Middleton M24 6XH. These details will be forwarded to the relevant FA headquarters. 15.Kick-off times shall be between 2.00p.m and 2.15p.m in the event of a late arrival by the away team a shortened game must be agreed between members of staff before the game. Minimum 2 x 30mins for the game. 16.In case of a match abandonment – 60 minutes constitutes a result. 17.In the event of a kit clash – the HOME team must change. 18.All results must be clearly ed by the HOME TEAM to the following address: within 48 hours of the fixture taking 19.Only two reasons for cancellation of games are permitted; 20.Adverse weather conditions or Cup competitions where no other students could replace the original team to fulfil the league fixture 21.If a fixture has been cancelled and re-arranged then it must be played on the second date. An attempt to get the match cancelled for a second time will result in the team who has been inconvenienced x 2 being awarded the points via a 3-0 win.
