DEFINITION A function f : A  B is a one-to-one correspondence (called a bijection) iff f is one-to-one and onto B. We write f : A  B to indicate that.
DEFINITION Let f : A  B and let X  A and Y  B. The image (set) of X is f(X) = {y  B : y = f(x) for some x  X} and the inverse image of Y is f –1 (Y)

Microsporum canis A zoophilic dermatophyte, which is a frequent cause of ringworm in humans, especially children. Invades hair, skin and rarely nails.
1. 2 Dermatophytosis (Ring worm or Tinea) Definition: The cutaneus mycoses by some keratinophilic fungi. Caused by: Dermatophytes: Microsporum, Trichophyton,
Cutaneous mycoses Extend deeper into the epidermis, as well as invasive hair and nail diseases. Etiological agents are called dermatophytes - "skin plants".

Presentation transcript:

The anthropophilic form of T. mentagrophytes and a common cause of tinea pedis, particularly the vesicular type, tinea corporis and sometimes superficial nail plate invasion. Not known to invade hair in vivo, but produces hair perforations in vitro. Must be differentiated from the downy forms of T. rubrum. Distribution: World-wide. Key Features: Culture characteristics, microscopic morphology and in vitro perforation of human hair. Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. interdigitale
