Presentation Introduction to EEOP Military Career – started as a chemist Designing Rockets Monitoring Chemical Warfare Agents Uranium Mining and Water Quality Air Quality Climate Change

Mission Statement The vision and mission of the EEOP staff is to foster life- changing learning experiences in the application of science, mathematics, technology and engineering to local issues that empower American Indian students of all ages to become self- determinate citizens of their sovereign tribal nation.

Primary Goals - EEOP Recruitment and retention of tribal students in environmental, science, engineering, and health careers. Effective science literacy programs in tribal school. Tribal Environmental Professionals doing effective environmental education and outreach. Better learning environment in all tribal schools (Indoor Air Quality) Improved air quality in all buildings.

What is Engineering? Engineers apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems. Their work is the link between perceived social needs and commercial applications. Engineers design products, machinery to build those products, plants in which those products are made, and the systems that ensure the quality of the products and the efficiency of the workforce and manufacturing process. Cost, Schedule, and Performance

What is Science? Science refers to a system of acquiring knowledge. This system uses observation and experimentation to describe and explain natural phenomena. The term science also refers to the organized body of knowledge people have gained using that system.

Military Career Young LT – “Jr!” Started my “career” as an LT at 22 years old – only one of my soldiers was younger than me. My son, David Rix at 1 years old.
