Presentation transcript:

 The theme of this poem if the grief Hugo feels after the death of his daughter, Leopoldine.  Leopoldine Hugo ( ) died in a boat accident with her husband while 3 months pregnant.

 Depressed, sad, lost.  All he could do was visit her grave. He was depressed when he wrote Tomorrow, At Dawn.

 Hugo wrote Tomorrow, At Dawn to “show” his grief, and have others who read the poem feel his grief.  The fact that he expresses his thoughts and feelings openly is what makes this a romantic poem.

 Hugo speaks to a person, telling him/her, he’s going on a long trip in order to meet him/her. Hugo says he cant’s remain long from him/her.  The last twos verses reveal it to be his daughter, Leopoldine.

 We enjoyed the poem.  It has a nice rhythm and the theme and the idea was unknown until the end, which made it even better.

 How do you feel you would cope with a grief such as the one Hugo feels?  Would you write? Why or why not?
