The Earth as an Egg-Benny’s Model

Strengths? Includes major layers-crust, mantle and core. Includes movement of plates-plate tectonics. Simple and easy to understand and relate to. (We all know what an egg looks like!)

Weaknesses? Doesn’t explain differences between inner and outer core. Doesn’t identify the thickness, density, and temperature of each of the layers. Doesn’t mention plate boundaries or what happens at boundaries. Doesn’t help us understand Earthquakes and volcanoes in any real depth.

So what else do we need to know to evaluate Benny’s model?? Guided Reading Notes! Use your textbook, work silently and independently. If you finish early, please make sure your vocabulary is completed. If that is done, make sure you have all of your data collected about the different world regions! We will be talking about what you learn while completing your notes!
