Using reasons and evidence to support arguments

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to… RI.5.8 Explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support particular points in a text, identifying which reasons and evidence support which point(s). Many times authors write to share their opinions or arguments for a particular topic What is an argument? An argument involves the process of making a claim (point) and then proving it with the use of reasons and evidence.
