CPD video Read the Teachers Notes and then Watch the CPD video ( lesson ) lesson Discuss the following questions How did the teacher introduce the context? How did the children develop and share the ideas introduced in the Snack Bar video? How did the teachers engage the students in discussion? How did the children make their decisions? How did the teachers conclude the lesson? What aspects of the curriculum are covered by the lesson?
Starter Watch Whats In Your Food? - and then discuss the following question Would you use this to introduce the lesson before introducing the starter activity? How would you use the brainstormed list of food eaten by the students to develop the criteria for healthy and unhealthy foods
Main Lesson Activities Watch Snack Bar - While watching the video complete the S3 sheet for each video clip What information was provided about the Fruit Munchy Square in the three video clips? Which was reliable? Look at the nutritional information for the Fruit Munchy Square and compare it with the information for other snacks and the Recommended Daily Allowance How would you use this information with your students to help them make their decisions? On separate pieces of paper record important points about the Fruit Munchy Square Draw a chart with the headings Ban, License and Endorse and group the information pieces of paper under the appropriate heading, putting those facts that strongly support the view at the top of the column and weaker support at the bottom How would you introduce this activity to your students? How would you facilitate group decision making?
Plenary How would you debrief the group discussions and decisions? How would you consolidate the learning?
