Background East Forsyth and Jefferson Middle School involved in the pilot since Includes all of the Encore areas— Arts, CTE, Foreign Language Goal was to determine whether requiring Encore courses in specific areas in 6 th grade affects student’s choices of electives in 7 th grade
The findings from the Pilot Study were: Increase in 7 th Grade Foreign Language Registration at East and Jefferson Increase in 7 th Grade Foreign Language Registration at East and Jefferson Slight increase in CTE at East Slight increase in CTE at East Decrease in CTE Registration at Jefferson Decrease in CTE Registration at Jefferson Increase in the Arts at East and Jefferson Increase in the Arts at East and Jefferson
After four years of the pilot…. The BOE approved extending the Balance Encore to all middle schools at grade six with full implementation by the school year
Implementation Plan Meadowlark, Northwest, Kennedy and Mineral Springs – Flat Rock, Southeast, Clemmons and Hanes Downtown School, Wiley, Kernersville, Philo/Hill and Walkertown.
