DISTANCE LEARNING COURSES
Presentation transcript:

Distance Learning at West Montgomery WarriorWeb

Distance Learning at West Montgomery Provides students with opportunities beyond what is offered on campus in a face to face (f2f) class Resolves scheduling conflicts Allows student flexibility Is available for students in grades 9-12 Helps educators at WMHS produce 21 st Century learners

Preparing for the Virtual World Projection: By 2019, over half of all courses will be conducted through e-learning processes As educators, we are challenged to prepare students to learn through this delivery method. E-learning takes a great deal of commitment, discipline - and an occasional nudge from a dedicated parent and Distance Learning Advisor! (

Preparing for the Virtual World To be a successful student in the Virtual World, Students need: To make the commitment Be self motivated Be efficient at managing their own time (

What Does An E-Learning Class Look Like? Both NCVPS and Learn and Earn Online use the same high end gaming graphics and techniques as in popular video games. This helps engage students. Instructors and designers continue to work each semester on revising course content to meet the needs of 21st Century Learners. (

NCVPS North Carolina Virtual Public School is an e-learning program which provides expanded high school course offerings including SAT preparation, AP courses, and credit recovery. Courses include foreign languages (French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Latin) Other electives include Medieval Studies, Success 101, and many AP courses

NC Learn and Earn Online Qualified students at West Montgomery can take a variety of online college-credit courses at no cost to them. Students earn both high school and college credit for successfully completed courses. Students from university prep, college tech prep, and career prep can successfully complete NC LEO courses. Courses are offered during fall and spring semesters through the UNCG iSchool and Montgomery Community College. MCC also offers summer classes.

Interested? If you would like to take challenging high school courses not offered at WMHS or free college courses, please contact your guidance counselor or Distance Learning Advisor. Come join us! WMHS –
