Why do we graph results?  To improve patient outcomes  To communicate improvement  To communicate lack of improvement  To focus improvement work

Percentage scale varies from 30% to 80% - all measures look equally good

Drawbacks to using a varying percentage scale  Does not accurately represent improvement  At a glance the measures look to be improving equally  Interpreting the graphs takes more time and thought

Percentage Scale = 100% Rate of improvement is clear

Benefits of using 100% scale  Graphs clearly depict rate of improvement  Relative improvement between each measure is clear  Improvement work can be focussed on specific areas  No distortion of graphs
