Which Word Works? Grade 2 Language Arts

What is a multiple meaning word? Many words have more than one meaning. The meaning of the word depends upon how it is used in the sentence.

Let’s look at an example… Here are three different meanings of the word track: a mark left by someone or something a path a set of rails that trains move on

Which meaning of the word track is used in each sentence below? track: 1.a mark left by someone or something 2. a path 3. a set of rails that trains move on The cars raced around the track. The railroad track cuts across the road. Is that a bear track in the dirt? 3 2 1

Ready to try a few more? dance: 1. to move the body in time to music 2. a party where people move to music The dance started at seven o’clock.2 Justin likes to dance to fast music.1
