Presentation transcript:

What are the advantages of completing EPQ? It allows you to choose a topic that is of specific interest to you. It helps you to develop skills that will be invaluable to you in FE or work It is getting increasing respect and acknowledgement from universities It carries UCAS points

It allows you to choose a topic that is of specific interest to you. Previous areas of research: The actions of the SS in France during World War 2 How to design the best roller coaster Is southern hemisphere rugby better than northern hemisphere What is psychological warfare and is it effective? Why have the Jack the Ripper murders remained unsolved?

It helps you to develop skills that will be invaluable to you in FE or work Research Note taking Problem solving Project management Problem solving Question framing Analytical writing

It is getting increasing respect and acknowledgement from universities Some admissions tutors may make two alternative offers, one of which involves success in the Extended Project (eg either AAA at A-level or AAB at A-level plus Extended Project). University of Bristol

It is getting increasing respect and acknowledgement from universities If you have undertaken the Extended Project, this may be taken into account if you do not achieve the conditions of your offer, but it will not be counted towards the requirements of any conditional offer. London School of Economics

It is getting increasing respect and acknowledgement from universities Where a department typically makes offers which include a fourth subject at AS level, the Extended Project will normally be considered in lieu of this requirement. University of Warwick

It carries UCAS points A* = 70 points A = 60 points B = 50 points C = 40 points D = 30 points E = 20 points

How is the EPQ organised?
