Must Haves for a Good Historical Novel A setting thats integral to the story Place and people have to be authentic to the time in history The author has to know the history period well Readers have to be able to identify with believable characters The story should evoke the similar emotions in character and reader References to well-known events, people or other clues should help the reader visualize the historic framework Readers fill like the know the time or place better
