Internet and Network Safety YKSD Policies

The Internet is your gateway to the world!

What do you already know how to use?

How does your computer know where to send the signal to get information?

Can you be hurt by other users of the network or Internet?

Some guidelines that will protect you.

Stop immediately if you see or read anything that upsets you!

Never agree to meet, in person, an individual met on the Internet.

Never, under any circumstances, reveal personal information

Other Tips Never share your password. Never swear or use abusive language. Delete unneeded files to save computer space. Never pass obscene, disruptive, or offensive materials yourself. Never use someone elses passwords and ID.

Follow the Board Policies Network Services Code of Conduct. Never engage in illegal activities including copyright violations.

Other copy write protected material You should not trade or copy computer software. Some pictures on the Internet are copy writed, always ask permission. Most music files.

How do you protect yourself and your network from a virus?

Check your disks periodically for viruses. Scan downloaded files for viruses. Scan for viruses. Dont open where you dont know the sender.

Now what do you need to do to use the Internet? Pass the YKSD Internet/Network Usage Test with 100% Get your parents to sign the Internet Access permission form. Agree to YKSD use policies and sign the form.
