Future Project Planning Meeting EU Projects Overview Antonio de la Oliva (UC3M) Daniel Corujo (ITAv) Carlos Jesus Bernardos (UC3M) Pablo Serrano (UC3M)

EU Projects and IEEE Participation of UC3M in the Future Internet Cluster at Brussels (20/10/2010) We have presented the current status of.21 and how EU projects can benefit from bringing their research to this venue Not much input has been obtained, just two projects have sent information regarding current plans related to.21

EU Projects: MEDIEVAL EU project focused on the optimization of wireless video streaming for mobile applications Innovations on.21: MIH Protocol signalling over MULTICAST transport The MEDIEVAL project will feature an underlying MULTICAST framework aiming to optimize video, which also supports mobility We aim to take one step further by using MULTICAST protocols as the means to transport MIH signalling to a wide group of terminals or network entities. Applications are possible in multiple areas, such as meshes, sensor networks or group management MIH-User extended MIHF interaction Since the MEDIEVAL project relies heavily on the interaction with high- level entities (i.e. MIH-Users) which greatly impact mobility, we are evaluating the benefits of having MIH-User related events and commands

EU Projects: MEDIEVAL Hierarchical MIIS interaction In highly heterogeneous environments where different parties contain different collections of high-level network information which is extremely useful to optimize the handover decision, it becomes difficult to reach that information when crossing different domains managed by different players Having that information (which can span over a huge number of networks covering extensive geographic regions) in a single server has considerable overhead, load and signalling delay issues We proposed a hierarchical MIIS architecture aiming to facilitate and optimize access to the best information in: Buiati, F.; Villalba, L.; Corujo, D.; Soares, J.; Sargento, S.; Aguiar, R.;, "Hierarchical Neighbor Discovery Scheme for Handover Optimization," Communications Letters, IEEE, vol.PP, no.99, pp.1-3, 0

EU Projects: FLAVIA FLAVIA: FLexible Architecture for Virtualizable wireless future Internet Access Its aim is to open low level APIs and functionality to applications to boost the performance of wireless networks The key concept is to expose flexible programmable interfaces enabling service customization and performance optimization through software-based exploitation of low-level operations and control primitives, e.g., transmission timing, frame customization and processing, spectrum and channel management, power control, etc.

EU Projects: FLAVIA Focus on.11,.16 and LTE How they can help.21: Providing a view of low level APIs which can be benefit to abstract and provide to upper layers
