IEEE j May 2011 Suhwook Kim, LG Electronics Inc. Submission Slide 2 Objectives This contribution discusses the operation of MBANS devices in 2360~2390 MHz and 2390~2400 MHz
IEEE j May 2011 Suhwook Kim, LG Electronics Inc. Submission IEEE j PAR Scope: This amendment defines a physical layer for IEEE in the 2360 to 2400 MHz band which complies with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) MBAN rules. This amendment defines modifications to the MAC needed to support this new physical layer Slide 3
IEEE j May 2011 Suhwook Kim, LG Electronics Inc. Submission IEEE j Technical requirement General –Proposals shall comply with requirements of the FCC MBAN rules –Proposals shall comply with the TG4j PAR as accepted by NesCom. –Proposals shall comply with the TG4j Medical Body Area Networks 5 Criteria document. PHY –Proposal should address PHY changes required for the movement of medical data in proximity to the body as per FCC MBAN Rules [1][2]. –Proposals shall address the amount of reusability of existing implementations operating in the 2450 MHz band [3] MAC –Only additional MAC requirements to support the Physical Layer and the FCC MBAN rules Channelization –A channelization plan shall be part of each proposal. Slide 4
IEEE j May 2011 Suhwook Kim, LG Electronics Inc. Submission baseline Beacon-enabled PAN –Desirable for MBANS Slide 5
IEEE j May 2011 Suhwook Kim, LG Electronics Inc. Submission Slide 6 PHY & MAC We need to define a new PHY in 2360~2400 MHz band –Reusability of existing PHY –FCC regulation And we should address new MAC feature to support new PHY according to FCC regulation –Medium access scheme –Management signaling –Power saving
IEEE j May 2011 Suhwook Kim, LG Electronics Inc. Submission Slide 7 Conclusion We address operation of MBANS in 2360~2400 MHz regarding of FCC regulation We propose preliminary submission on MBANS in 2360~2400 MHz
