Caroline County Public Works Division Solid Waste Accepted at Convenience Sites  Household refuse  Recyclable materials  Bulk Items: oFurniture oMattresses & box springs oBicycles and lawn mowers  Tires o4 passenger car tires per day oTires 48” in diameter must be taken to the Bowling Green Sites and a charge of $2.50 will be assessed (more than 4 tires will be billed at $120/ton) oTractor tires will be accepted if cut in to pieces not longer than 48” oTires on rims are not accepted  White goods (refrigerators, hot water heaters, stoves, etc..)  Lawn Debris (must be bagged)  Small amounts of building materials (1/2 ton pick load per day)  Paint (must be dry in can, kitty litter will help solidify paint)  Brush (Bowling Green Site only)  Household shingles (Bowling Green Site only)  Untreated wood & pallets (Bowling Green Site only)  Tree trunks (must be cut into 18” lengths, Bowling Green Site only)

Caroline County Public Works Division Items not accepted at Convenience Sites  Tree Stumps  Tires on rims  Hazardous materials : o Gasoline o Gas Bottles (propane) o Fertilizers o Hot coals or burned refuse o Chemicals o Flammable materials o Fireworks Items not accepted at the sites or items left in front of Sites after the sites are closed are violations of the County code and may result in fines and imprisonment

Caroline County Public Works Division Recycling information Caroline County uses 2-stream recycling in which cans, plastics and glass are commingled in the same container and paper and cardboard are similarly commingled in another container. and cardboard are similarly commingled in another container. These recyclables are collected and shipped to a recycling facility where the recyclable materials are sorted and shipped to manufacturing facilities. Other recyclable materials are collected in separate waste streams and shipped to manufacturing facilities. Tires are used in a waste-to energy facility that supplies electricity for the operation of a Wastewater Treatment Plant. In addition Caroline County recycles all office paper that is generated in the operation of the county. Caroline County Recycled Materials - Aluminum and metal cans - Aluminum and metal cans –Glass – all colors –Plastic – all colors –Paper/newsprint –Cardboard –Appliances (white goods) –Lead automotive batteries –Used motor oil

Payment by check only. oAll tires in excess of 4 are considered commercial and a fee of $ per ton will be charged Payment by check only. oTires larger than 48” in diameter will be accepted if cut into pieces less than 48” in length. –Electronic: Equipment: Caroline County does not at this time recycle electronic equipment (ie… computers, televisions etc.) however supports E-Cycling through the Rappahannock Goodwill.
