IB Mission Statement The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand other people, with their differences, can also be right.

To Answer Your Questions . . . Who may enroll in the IB Program? Why should students enroll in the IB Program? How and when should students prepare for the IB Program?

Requirements of the IB Program -An IB student is required to take six IB classes in their junior and senior year. -A candidate must select one subject from groups 1 to 5 from the IB hexagon. -The sixth subject may be selected from group 6 or a candidate may select an additional subject from groups 1 to 5.

The IB Diploma Exams are given in May for each IB class. IB students are required to complete projects for each class. Each exam is scored out of 7 points. In order to earn an IB diploma, a minimum score of 24 out 42 must be earned. Students may opt to be certificate students.

The IB Diploma Creativity, Action, Service (CAS): Active involvement in a minimum of 150 hours of community service, artistic, and physical activities. Theory of Knowledge: an externally assessed course that contrasts ways of knowing in all six subject areas Extended Essay: A 4000 word independent research paper in one of the six subject areas

Benefits of the IB Program The IB program is a rigorous academic program. An IB diploma is a desirable factor in the college admissions process. College credit can be earned from successful completion of IB exams.
