ALL ABOUT PRESIDENTS By : Zaheira Adams

TALK ABOUT THE PRESIDENT  The president travels quickly and safely wherever he needs to go.  When a president travels, he always has the option of bringing his family along with him.

A HUGE RESPONSIBILITY  An individual who wishes to become president must get elected by the citizens of the United States.

TRAVELING  The president travels quickly and safely wherever he needs to go.  When he travels, he always has the option of bringing his family along with him.  Presidents travel around the country making speeches and encouraging people to vote for them.

WHY DO PRESIDENTS TAKE AN OATH OF OFFICE? The Constitution of the United States, which also lays out the rules for becoming and being president, requires that the president take an oath of office. That is the pledge that the new president will obey the law and protect the law and the nation against any enemy. While they are not required to do so traditionally, new presidents take the oath while placing their hand on a Bible to indicate that they are taking the oath very seriously.

ARE PEOPLE NICE TO THE PRESIDENT?  Many people are nice to the president.  However, Americans do have the freedom of speech, press, and expression.  If they disagree, then they are free to say so.

WHY DO THEY HAVE SPEECHES ON TV?  Presidents frequently make speeches to rally support for a particular law they want passed and to encourage support of their polices. They are not required to do this but they find it helpful.  Because the president is such an important person, these speeches are frequently shown on TV.
