Imperfect Tense DO NOT TRANSLATE AS "I verbed!" The imperfect tense is one of the six tenses in Latin. It refers to a past action and can be translated the following ways: I was verbing I used to verb I kept on verbing DO NOT TRANSLATE AS "I verbed!"

Imperfect Tense Endings Singular Plural 1st person -bam I was praising -bāmus we were praising 2nd person -bās You were praising -bātis y'all were praising 3rd person -bat He/she/it was praising -bant they were praising The imperfect will ALWAYS have -ba- in it.

Imperfect tense Those endings (-bam, -bas, -bat, etc.) will attach to the end of the stem as usual. Example: laudō, laudāre, laudavī, laudātum laudō, laudā/re laudā+ending --> laudābam, laudābās, etc.

Future Tense Same stem, new endings Remember, these are only for 1st/2nd conjugation verbs Future may be translated as follows: I will verb I shall verb* shall = used in first person only unless it's a command/prophecy

Beware the vowel change: bo/bi/bi/bi/bi/bu Future Tense Endings Singular Plural 1st person -bō I shall praise -bimus we will praise 2nd person -bis You will praise -bitis y'all will praise 3rd person -bit He/she/it will praise -bunt they will praise bam = was, bis = will Beware the vowel change: bo/bi/bi/bi/bi/bu

Imperfect tense Those endings (-bō, -bis, -bit, etc.) will attach to the end of the stem as usual. Example: laudō, laudāre, laudavī, laudātum laudō, laudā/re laudā+ending --> laudābō, laudābis, etc.

Adjectives ending in -er Some adjectives of 1st/2nd declension end in -er. They should not be a problem provided that the feminine and neuter forms are memorized in order to get the base. līber, lībera, līberum (free) pulcher, pulchra, pulchrum (beautiful) Līber would decline līber, līberī, līberō... while pulcher would decline pulcher, pulchrī, pulchrō...
