Consistently update your page. This means posting a new Tweet about once a day. Consistently interact with your fans. If someone posts a compliment, be sure to tweet them back and thank them personally! If you come across a negative tweet about your organization, try to correct the situation personally. Use a human tone when posting on your organization’s Twitter page, not a professional one. This helps to humanize your organization. Always be open and honest. If your organization makes a mistake, own up to it immediately and publicly.
Create Twitter lists for specific publics and use them to track what people are saying about your organization or issues that affect your organization. Use a dashboard, such as Hootsuite, to schedule Tweets. Consider peak timing when posting Tweets. Later in the day is typically best.
